The pioneer bridge can be found in the southeast of the Aukrug nature park and connects the two communities of Fitzbek and Brokstedt. Before 1930, the pioneer bridge was just a footbridge that led over the Stör and enabled the two communities to have a faster traffic route. However, when a French prisoner of war and a horse-drawn carriage broke in there in 1941, the bridge was completely renewed and was henceforth known as the Pioneer Bridge. However, the bridge has never lost its original character of a wooden bridge, even if the wooden supports have now been replaced by steel girders in order to be able to carry motor vehicles. Anyone who has ever done a canoe tour on the Stör has certainly passed the Pioneer Bridge. But a visit to the historic river crossing is also worthwhile. Since 2006, the residents of Fitzbek and Brokstedt have been celebrating a bridge festival every 2 years with music, drinks and grilled food. In 2010, the two municipalities placed a 500 kg boulder on the bridge, which has served as a signpost for the two municipalities ever since. A trip to the Pioneer Bridge can be ideally combined with a canoe tour and / or a subsequent visit to a nearby restaurant. The ring wall in droves of wills lies at a river crossing over the Stör. The ring wall can be reached by taking the L122 coming from Bad Bramstedt, which crosses the road bridge at the ring wall on the west bank of the Stör. Immediately behind the road bridge, a path leads into it on the left, at the end of which there is a small parking lot. At the beginning of the dirt road there are two signs that describe the archaeological monument. The ring wall near Willenscharen was probably built by the Saxons in the 8th or 9th century AD. The ring wall probably served to protect and defend the military route that led here over the Stör. It can be assumed that at that time where the bridge is now, a ford made the crossing possible. The ring wall system in Willenscharen has been very well preserved. However, part of the ring wall facing the street was removed. This is probably where the gate or entrance was also located. When you stand on the wall and let your gaze wander around, you only realize how strategically favorable the ring wall was. Source: http://www.mejcher.de/Burgen/willenscharen/willenscharen.htm

The bridge was built by pioneers of the Reichswehr. It has been renovated several times. You should definitely try out the bank at your side.

In the 8th or 9th century a castle was built here to protect the river crossing. Today there is only a high wall 40 meters in diameter left. Whoever has imagination sees more.
