The Old Windmill in Laboe (1872) replaced the previously used watermill in Lutterbek. After the first mill burned down, a second windmill was transported by ship from the Ornum estate near Missunde to Laboe and rebuilt in 1906. This, too, burned down intentionally during World War I in 1914, only to be rebuilt later in 1923. The mill finally ceased operations in 1964. While the mill no longer rotates in the wind, its wings and character remain intact – it is a popular photographic subject.

The old windmill on Mühlenberg Hill is one of Laboe's most striking landmarks. Originally built in 1872, it was destroyed and rebuilt several times – most recently in 1923. Today it is disused and part of a retirement home, but the view above Laboe's rooftops is impressive and makes a great photo opportunity! 🧭 Tip: The mill is easily accessible on foot from the harbor or the Naval Memorial. The path up to Mühlenberg Hill offers beautiful views of the Baltic Sea. 🚫 Note: The mill cannot be visited from the inside as it is privately owned. However, the exterior is clearly visible. 👍 Recommended for: • Walkers • Culture enthusiasts • Photographers • Those seeking peace and quiet

Originally built in 1872, the mill fell victim to two fires – once in 1904 and again in 1914. After its reconstruction in 1923, it remained in its present form. The mill is no longer in operation.
