This vibrant, traditional harbor, with its beautiful promenade, is one of the main attractions of Cala Ratjada. It is also Mallorca's second most important fishing port after Palma de Mallorca!

Because the lime burning process took up to two weeks, the workers lived in the forests to continuously add wood to the kilns to keep the fire going. This may have been one of these houses. The lime kilns—forn de calç—are found in this area.

The traditional lime kilns (Forn de Calç) from the 19th century are found predominantly in holm oak forests. During the lime production process, the limestone was heated to temperatures of 900–1000°C, and wood was continually added during this phase. Holm oak is an ideal wood for this. Since the process could take up to two weeks, dwellings where the workers lived can also be found near the lime kilns. https://mittelmeerperle.de/forns-de-calc-kalkoefen/
