The construction of the Church of San Vicente Mártir was overseen by the master sculptor Andrés de Monasterio, who on April 17, 1677, won the contract for the project through a public auction. According to church records, it was built on the site of an 11th-century medieval monastery that was also dedicated to Saint Vincent Martyr. This old church was demolished in 1617. This Renaissance-style church consists of a single rectangular nave with three bays, a choir loft at the west end, a polygonal apse, a side chapel on the Gospel side, and a bell gable. The building is covered with Gothic ribbed vaults. The bell tower has two embrasures and is topped by a triangular pediment and a small stone cross. The Church of San Vicente Mártir houses a main altarpiece also made by Andrés del Monasterio. This work marks the first use of Solomonic columns in Cantabria. Inside the church there is also another altarpiece in the Baroque style dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

It's true that the slope is tough, but the term "death" seems a bit exaggerated to me.
