During the Second World War, Canon Louis DESBIOLLES, then parish priest of Sallanches, vowed to build a replica of the Lourdes cave if the city was spared the bombs. It was in fact in this town in the Pyrenees that the young Bernadette SOUBIRO reported in 1858 several apparitions of the Virgin Mary.
