The Allschwil Forest is a forest and recreational area near the city of Basel. It extends over the Basel-Landschaft communities of Allschwil (approx. 220 hectares) and Binningen (approx. 30 hectares) and is partly protected. The Allschwil Water Tower is a water tower located in the municipality of Allschwil in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. Construction began in 1970, and the roof terrace has been open to the public since 1983. The 42.5-meter-high tower is founded on 18-meter-long concrete piles driven into loess soil. It contains two reservoirs with a total capacity of 990 cubic meters of drinking water, including a 100-cubic-meter reserve for firefighting. The viewing platform at a height of 38 meters is open only on Sundays and public holidays during limited hours. An elevator provides access to the platform. From the tower, there is a panoramic view stretching from Basel across the Black Forest to the Leimental valley.
