Near the Col de Sainte-Marie, a short climb leads to this rock on which an old castle, the Château de Faîte, was erected. The Revolution and the two world wars destroyed the fortifications which are now in ruins. The ridge on which the rock is located was indeed the subject of numerous clashes between French and Germans in the 20th century.

Less a highlight than a small mystery: In the forest behind Bertrimoutier is "Les sept chemins", a crossroads where, contrary to the name, only (still?) six paths catch the eye. Who doesn't immediately think of the Dutch TV series »The Secret of the Seventh Way«, based on the young adult book of the same name by Tonke Dragt? (Probably everyone who didn't watch a holiday program in 1984 & therefore doesn't know that David Lynch obviously filmed a Dutch children's series long before »Twin Peaks«. There's no other way I can explain this piece of television history today). https://youtu.be/h1xldMZuL1I

Unfortunately, you obviously cannot delete your own highlights, which is really stupid.
