Ingenheim "was home to the most important rural Jewish community in the Palatinate around the middle of the 19th century. The 578 Jewish citizens (in 1847) represented about a third of the total population at that time. It was not for nothing that people referred to it as 'Little Jerusalem.'" Source (quoted verbatim): https://www.juedisches-leben-in-ingenheim.de/de/startseite/14/startseite.html This Jewish cemetery "is all that remains of the once flourishing life and eventful history" of this Jewish community. "The oldest stones date back to 1695. As a community cemetery, Jews from the communities of Billigheim, Niederhorbach, Bad Bergzabern, Pleisweiler, Klingenmünster, Göcklingen, and Heuchelheim-Klingen were also buried here. The last burial took place in 1978."
