We were on this path today after the flood. Not recommended after the flood or in wet weather as you have to climb dangerous detours around boulders! Narrow places are not secured at all (wire rope on the rock face is desirable!). Only for sure-footed hikers with no fear of heights!

Wonderful hiking trail, well suited for running in because it is not too long. In the labyrinth then beautiful rocks for bouldering, gigantic views of the Chassezac.

The bastide viaduct under Sampzon crosses the Ardèche just after its confluence with the Chassezac, its main tributary which drains an immense watershed including the north side of Mont Lozère and a good part of the Ardèche mountains. We observe two arms of the river at this confluence with a heart-shaped rocky island in the middle, witness to the power of the floods of the Chassezac and the Ardèche during the Cévennes episodes. Dominating the viaduct from its 381m height, the Sampzon rock is a real landmark in the landscape of southern Ardèche, prow of the Serre mountain, bristling with its television relay antenna which replaced the old feudal fortress razed in 1600.
