Château typical of the old stately residences of Sologne with its brick facades decorated with diamonds and its moats which merge into ponds. Some estimate its construction at the end of the 16th century, others speak of the end of the 17th or the beginning of the 18th century. Modifications and restorations were made subsequently. Thus, the bridges which currently allow crossing the moats were made of wood until the 19th century and the current chapel dates from 1810. Its best-known owner was Auguste Prouvensal de Saint-Hilaire, who made numerous discoveries of Brazilian flora. He died in 1853 in La Turpinière.
