Tips from the Community

October 31, 2023, Église Saint-Martin à Vouzeron

The Saint-Martin church, a 19th century church which is distinguished by its impressive spire. The church was rebuilt after a fire by Baron Roger, owner of the neighboring castle. Inside the church you will find beautiful stained glass windows, a wooden pulpit and a marble altar. The church is also where some of the Spanish refugees who fled the civil war in 1939 were welcomed and housed by the local community. The Saint-Martin Church is a symbol of faith, generosity and resilience in the heart of Vouzeron.

Pretty installation in the forest which is sure to make you smile and watch the undergrowth in search of an elf hat.

Fountain still in operation, with ancient-inspired architecture. On its pediment is engraved the date 1903. It is a clinker operator, a very common activity in the region, who gave it its name. In front of the fountain, blocks of stone surrounded by iron seem to have been used to crush the clinker.

Priory founded in the 12th century by King Philippe-Auguste, it was inhabited until the beginning of the 16th century by monks. Registered since 2013 on the list of Historic Monuments, its restoration was launched in 2016. It now regularly hosts schools and the association which takes care of its preservation would like to make it a real forest school where children could learn more about flora, fauna and history.
