"Ulenboom" is Low German for owl tree. The name comes from the fact that owls found shelter in the crown or in the hollows of the old trunk. In village folklore, the call of the owl was often considered a mystical sign, which gave the tree a special aura. The linden tree is estimated to be several hundred years old. It has witnessed wars, village fires and the transformation from a heathland circular village to a modern community.

History In July 2012 it was announced that Wolfsburg AG would build a new stadium for VfL Wolfsburg in the Allerpark. This was intended to provide a better environment for the VfL Wolfsburg women's team, among other things. They had previously been based in the VfL Stadium on Elsterweg and won the German championship, the DFB Cup and the Champions League in 2012/13. The new building was intended to further promote women's football. The Allerpark, where the Volkswagen Arena is also located, was chosen as the location for the AOK Stadium.[15] Wolfsburg AG acted as the developer and project manager and is the owner of the stadium. Strabag and Züblin were commissioned to build it. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on May 30, 2013 in the presence of representatives of VfL and Wolfsburg AG, VW works council chairman Bernd Osterloh and mayor Klaus Mohrs. The total budget for the new stadium, VfL Center and surrounding facilities was around 30 million euros.
