The Saint-Martin church is the church of the village of Thurins in the Rhône. This Catholic church dedicated to Saint Martin, Apostle of the Gauls, is today part of the Saint-Alexandre parish of West Lyon which depends on the archdiocese of Lyon. This church replaces an older church and was consecrated on May 31, 1835 by Mgr Gaston de Pins, apostolic administrator of the archdiocese of Lyon, while Cardinal Fesch, uncle of Napoleon, was still in exile in Rome, refusing to resign . The too dangerous bell tower was demolished in 1909. It was replaced by a pointed bell tower in 1929. The church is highly appreciated for its acoustics. It was restored in 1978. Source: Wikipedia
