Construction of the Sacré-Coeur church began in 1867, and although it was not completed due to lack of funds, it was opened for worship in 1871. Work did not resume until 1877, finally being completed in 1892 with the addition of the bell tower.

The climb up the Cran d'Escalles is a feat of bravery, but the spectacle at the top is worth it.

A worthwhile aquarium—especially the central tank with its underwater tunnel, where a giant manta ray swims laps. We were there on a weekday during the off-season. Although there were no lines, it was quite crowded and noisy at times. Given the queue management at the entrance, it's safe to assume it gets very, very crowded on weekends, rainy days, and/or during peak season. I wouldn't visit the aquarium during those times. (Note: The photo doesn't show the manta ray. ;) It was at the other end of the tank at the time.)
