In a document from October 15, 967, the Palatine Chapel is described as "completely dilapidated". At that time, the name "Alte Kapelle" (Old Chapel) first appeared, probably with reference to its former rank as a royal palatine chapel. A millennium has passed since the Bavarian Duke Henry IV, the later German Emperor Henry II, took possession of the Alte Kapelle in Regensburg, restored it and elevated it to his palatine chapel. The Alte Kapelle, a glorious Marian shrine, is one of the most important sites of Christianity in Bavaria. The entire interior of the church depicts the life of Emperor Henry II and his consort Kunigunde in the frescoes of the nave and transept, as well as in the many sculptures. The artistic designs are based on the spirit of the Baroque and Rococo periods.

Near Regensburg Cathedral of St. Peter is the Alte Kapelle (Old Chapel). As unassuming as the name of this church sounds, it hides no less than the first church in Bavaria. It was built in 875 by Louis the German. Particularly worth seeing is the devotional image, which depicts the Mother of God Mary with the Christ Child. It was a gift from Pope Benedict VIII to Emperor Henry II. Anyone entering the church today is greeted by the splendor of the 18th century. On closer inspection, beneath the white and gold of the Rococo, the original structure of the three-nave pillar basilica with an eastern transept can still be recognized. A place steeped in history, gilded by the splendor of the 18th century. Source: https://www.regensburg-bayern.de/erleben/sehenswuerdigkeiten-regensburg/alte-kapelle/

The Minoritenkirche St. Salvator is centrally located directly on Dachauplatz. The name says it all: it was built by the Franciscans, for whom the predecessor building – the Salvatorkapelle – soon became too small. They began construction of the monastery church around 1255, making the new building one of the largest mendicant order churches in Germany. In 1931, the city of Regensburg bought the entire monastery complex and established the city museum there – today, the former monastery is home to the »Historisches Museum der Stadt Regensburg«. Concerts are held in the Minoritenkirche during the summer months; it is normally closed during the winter months. Quelle: https://www.genesis-regensburg.de/minoritenkirche/
