The castle is worth seeing. It offers a magnificent view over Heidenheim, and the castle grounds are very interesting. Guided tours are also offered.

Mighty castle above Heidenheim: Impressive castle with a sweeping view over the town and Brenz Valley – a worthwhile stop with a wealth of history.

Both drinking water fountains marked on the map (in Günzburg's old town) are empty and fenced off! This one isn't even on the map, but it works! 💧 07/2025

Günzburg's beautiful old town. There are also plenty of ice cream parlors, cafes, and restaurants. Unfortunately, at lunchtime, the only options were kebabs, pizza, or hamburgers. The restaurants serving Swabian or Bavarian cuisine were closed until 5:00 p.m. It's a shame I had expected more. On the way back to Kirchheim, we came across several beer gardens that were open.
