October 15, 2025, Statue of Cardinal Fesch

French Cardinal Joseph Fesch was born on January 3, 1763, in Ajaccio, Corsica. He was the half-brother of Napoleon's mother, Letizia Bonaparte. Fesch died in Rome on May 13, 1839. He was a passionate art collector, particularly of Italian paintings. Part of his art collection was bequeathed to the city of Ajaccio and formed the basis of today's Palais Fesch – Musée des Beaux-Arts, located on Rue du Cardinal Fesch in Ajaccio.

General Jean-Charles Abbatucci was one of the greatest Corsican soldiers. This statue in his honor, in the middle of a beautiful square, bears witness to this.

Statue of the young General Abbatuci, who died in 1796. Ajaccio is a city with military roots, which it proudly displays in many places. The place is nevertheless beautiful, with views of the sea and the hustle and bustle of the commercial ferry port.
