I FOUND THIS ON WIKIPEDIA: The Laclotte events are a war crime which happened on June 7, 1944 in Castelculier, France. They are orchestrated by the Agen Gestapo with the help of French collabos. A military action is made against the Corps Franc Pommiès, a French Resistance organization, by the 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich. The Laclotte castle attack ends with the shooting of civilians. This operation against French Resistance continues the same day in Saint-Pierre-de-Clairac, a small village near Castelculier by the same Waffen-SS. A few days later, this 2nd SS Panzer Division ("Das Reich") will be responsable of the Tulle murders and the Oradour-sur-Glane massacre.

Coming from the north we found the path hard to follow and komoot a little off. Leaving the sight south bound, was the much easier route. As you pass through the ruins of CHATEAU DE LACLOTTE on your right you will first see the white monument with the names of The resistance. Back on the path and to your left you will see some steps with a wooden rail, up those steps is another plaque. Dedicated to Andre Mazeau for facing the enemy on the 7th June 1944.

Perfect for a peaceful cycling break, as a couple or with family, in the heart of the Gascon way of life.

We fell in love with this stage in a bed and breakfast. Very nice and relaxing place run by a very friendly person. The room was tastefully decorated and well equipped and the meal (we took the snack board option) was perfect, organic and local products. One of our best stops along the canal.
