In the middle of the 17th century, the inn located on a trade route and the farm belonging to the Rabis manor were first mentioned in a document. From 1850 onwards, the guesthouse "Luftschiff" existed here, which quickly became a popular excursion destination. After a fire in 1905, the restaurant was rebuilt and existed in this form until 1970. It subsequently came into the possession of the Carl Zeiss company, which had the guesthouse demolished in 1974. https://www.literaturland-thueringen.de/artikel/novalis-wanderweg-rundweg-von-drackendorf-nach-schloeben/burg-rabis-ehemaliges-luftschiff/

The Novalisweg in Jena starts in Jena at the Romantikerhaus (Unterm Markt 12a) and leads through the Volkspark Oberaue (Paradies), along the main road to Wöllnitz, over Jena-Lobeda on a footpath below the Lobdeburg to Drackendorf and from there over the Wöllmisse and the Vorwerk Burgrabis (Luftschiff) to Schlöben. The trail length is approx. 15 kilometers. Those who only want to hike one way can use a bus connection (see flyer) from Schlöben to Jena and vice versa. https://www.literaturland-thueringen.de/artikel/novalis-wanderweg-rundweg-von-drackendorf-nach-schloeben/

Every Thursday, a grill outside, beer at the bar inside, and an ice cream truck on the square. Highly recommended!

In 1770/71, the hall church was built on the foundations of its predecessor. The latter had been rebuilt in 1647 after being completely destroyed by Swedish troops, but was in need of repair (part of the church ceiling collapsed in 1751).
